Scott Pruitt simply revived a plan to build a questionable mine on a few of the most beautiful lands in The United States and Canada. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, Ben Mankiewicz, Aida Rodriguez, the hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us just what you think in the remark area below.

" The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has actually restored a questionable proposed Alaska mining project previously blocked by Obama administration regulators.

The EPA and a mining firm on Friday revealed a negotiation in their lawful conflict over the proposed Stone Mine near Bristol Bay in southwest Alaska, establishing the phase for an ultimate permitting choice that could allow the gold and copper project to move forward.

Mine developer Pebble Limited Partnership sued the EPA in 2014 over the firm's choice to obstruct the mine on ecological and tribal sovereignty premises before the company had submitted its license applications."

Analicia Castaneda Most of rural Alaska voted for Clinton and usually vote more Liberal. People in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla (real cities) vote mostly for Republicans. Take a look at voting maps, they look like population heat maps. I’m surprised a fellow Alaskan isn’t aware of this.
Support for the mine is coming mostly from Urban Alaskans not Rural Alaskans.

You have no idea. Think this is justice? This isn’t just hurting trump supporters, or Americans, this hurts people worldwide, everyone and everything everywhere. Instead of blaming us, help us fight together or things will only get worse. We fight for our future or we won’t have one. You guys think we are all trump supporters? Everyone I know is against trump. My kids can’t poop on a toilet yet. Do they deserve this? Kids are suffering! they aren’t just idiots they are nazis, they think they will inherit the earth after they kill us, but Our planet will be uninhabitable. We all stand up or we all die. My children and yours. There’s no point running away, The wind will blow death everywhere. this is a kill or be killed situation. I wanted to Say you are as clueless as the trump supporters, because “they deserve it” is wrong and makes me angry but like it or not we need each other! right now! Fight for what’s right! For truth! For justice! Our children! Our future! Our world!

It’s a disgrace the Corporations can rape Alaska for its resources . America usually does it abroad .

Guatemala did want an eco indigenous friendly country but Ike launched a civil war at the behest of American fruit companies. The Hague ruled the over 200,000 killed to be an act of genocide. Reagan did the same thing in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala again. Nixon did the same thing to Chile, Ike did the same thing to Iran. Countries do whatever the USA Extortionists want. Indigenous genocide is Uncle Sam’s calling card, it’s a Christian thing.

Are you kidding? America is an equal-opportunity, “rape and pillager”. Teddy Roosevelt’s fights over this same type of domestic rapaciousness are famous. America has always been at war with itself over this issue and more often than not would lose.

anko Mitarashi there’s a few problems with nuclear, we’re not sure what to do with the radioactive waste, it takes years to create new reactors, and no one really wants them enough to create more. If we’re looking for an energy source to phase out fossil fuels quickly it’ll be wind and solar.

    • Posted by Raj Kapadia, at Reply

charles smallwood True. Those are the best options. However, nuclear shouldn’t be ruled out, as it offers many benefits as well.

    • Posted by REAL Newfiepie, at Reply

Sha Dow The vast majority of politicians and people in the US are christian. It’s not religion to blame it’s corporate suck ups.

    • Posted by Sha Dow, at Reply

      +REAL Newfiepie
The same “corporate suck-ups” voted in by their christian base who doesn’t do any research in policy matters. They vote for who their tax-fearing church leaders tell them to vote for. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/politics/sd-me-church-bulletin-20161102-story.html

    • Posted by REAL Newfiepie, at Reply

Sha Dow No doubt many corporate suck ups are christian and their followers as well, but that doesn’t mean that the corporate suck ups supported and pushed for this bill just because they’re christian. On other issues that is most certainly the case, and often christians do vote for certain people just because of their party. However on this issue, religion isn’t really a factor.

I’m curious how Trumpanzees will defend this blatant raping of the environment.

    • Posted by Objective Realist 420, at Reply

The environment is overpopulated with nature. Nature will destroy itself unless we keep the level of environment to minimal. By hurting the environment we are saving it because of how ecosystems work. Its complicated but just trust me.

Size does not matter. One accident in the mine, one explosion and all the toxic materials that are used to mine the gold and minerals get blown in the air, and spread miles up miles around by wind, causing wide-spread pollution. It doesn’t matter if the effects of this are immediatly apparent. All that matters is that there _will_ be effects, negative effects, that can be traced back to this one mining accident.

My conspiracy theory of their long-term plan:
The Keystone pipeline was a test to work with Canada (ian oil companies)
Rex Tillerson drills for oil in the arctic
They build a pipeline right through the Alaskan nature reserves and through Canada to the US.

    • Posted by John Bliss, at Reply

Oh yeah, there are long-term corporate (thereby government) goals, to be sure

    • Posted by Kath Casey, at Reply

Here’s mine. There is NO gold at Fort Knox. The middle east turmoil isn’t about oil it’s about fiatt curency vs the gold backed standard. Assad, Ghadafi, Husein were all for oil exchanges in gold vs the American dollar (which has less than nothing behind it). If the dollar fails the USA fails, overnight.

How about speaking to the public and listen to what they have to say in how they want to improve the country? Before trump does something that will really screw America.
