of course its a distraction. trump doesnt want you to know that unions still exist and want to make you think that they’re all bad, and a threat to Americans.

+Listenbuddy1 I don’t think that way. You have freedom of thought and speech and it should be protected. That’s what being a liberal is about, getting government out of social affairs. Anyone not following that basic value doesn’t really qualify as a liberal and is more communitarian.

ok i may be a devils’ advocate but i gotta point this out cause of easy to understand hiden facts so do read… Trump just stated a fact of freedom of rights by stating an other persident aka Andrew jackson could have stop it, he is clear pro slavery by doing so by clearing pointing out that he believes that he’s pro slavery TYT do take note of that cause it is proven by our rights that slavery should not be possible by our given rights thus done proven and supported by our other president. He clearly defiled more than one right and in my oppion the office should be givenup to who ever was fighting against because this man does not fight the future such as America but fights for view of the past which have been frown against… this should be push forward as a right so that the future only tries to push forward for the right of all thus preventing us falling backwards as we done so far with trumps cuts towards nature; he has screawed around enough and the line should be make and it should be understood he has crosses it…

Why? Leave em to it I reckon

  13. Posted by daniel Guzman, at Reply

We need to go beyond unions, and replace all capitalist enterprises with worker co-ops and worker’s councils. If you are against State dictatorships, why do you support private dictatorships?

    • Posted by Steven Human, at Reply

+Lester Brunt – Because you know for sure that the boss will screw you and keep all the profits for himself, but co-ops engage in profit sharing.

Also, it’s not exactly like “voting in a boss”. There is still deliberation among the workers on policy, etc, but co-ops are “one member, one vote”. However, some roles need to be filled, based on the company’s goals. This is very different than an unelected boss who cares only about his own profits.

    • Posted by Lester Brunt, at Reply

but how do you ensure that the profits are shared equally amongst everybody? What stops a majority from hording the money for themselves? Sure you can vote but if you don’t belong to the majority it doesn’t matter much. What if I enter one of these companies and after 2 months I find out the old majority is keeping more money for themselves, what can I do about that? I can vote about it, raise the issue, but if the majority doesn’t care what exactly can I do about that?

    • Posted by Steven Human, at Reply

+Lester Brunt – In America, we use contracts to ensure that people don’t get screwed over. I don’t know where you’re from, so it might be different there. Also, people don’t always get paid exactly equally – it could still be based on how much work you do and what type of skills you have. If my workplace co-ops, we’ll keep using contracts, like our union does.

    • Posted by Lester Brunt, at Reply

What is so hard about just walking me through this? You clearly thought long about this.
I really don’t understand how it works. So if I have to enter into contract before I can democratically decide over what happens in the business? What if the contract says something I don’t agree with?

    • Posted by Steven Human, at Reply

+Lester Brunt – What’s so difficult is that I’m at work right now, and only able to reply when I go on break. When I get off work at 3:30 CST, I can get back to you some more. I hear you, and I’m not trying to be mean. I’ll be home in a few hours.

Libertarian Socialist here, too. I’d recommend that you don’t ostricize people who support, or at least have an affinity for, labor. Smug comments don’t build allies. Also, neither you nor I are any kind of Mother Jones. Sure, we should all aspire to inspire as she did, but we stand on the shoulders of giants. Hell, my chief shop steward didn’t even know what May Day was – I’m the first one to have ever explained it to him, earlier today. Many people can now take for granted what they have – including you and me – because of the sacrifices of those who came before us. No one alive today made it all happen, so none of us can claim credit. It’s “us”.

Dr. Hugh Bumazz not on the list : Hillary Clinton as president.

    • Posted by MusicByJC, at Reply

Actually as corrupt and disgusting Clinton is, she would far more trustworthy and it is pretty well known what she will do. But no big deal, Trump is becoming more and more like Hillary every day since he has changed his positions on a number of policies. There will be no wall. NATO is no longer obsolete. There will be no Muslim ban. There will be no ridiculous budget that increases the military and border security by the huge numbers that Trump wanted. There will be be no repeal and replace of Obama care. There might be some changes to the existing Obama care, which are needed as long as they actually try to fix the system and not just try to cut the extra tax on the wealthy. There will be no cancelling of NAFTA. If they can make some minor adjustments that makes things a little better for the US, then great. ISIS will not be defeated, at least not with Trump’s neocon policies. He might get NATO to pay a little more towards defense, something that I have been in favor of for a decade at least. He will not pass his pathetic one page tax reform. I can’t even call it a tax reform with a straight face. It is a blatant give away to the wealthiest Americans. And I mean wealthy. Not somebody that just does very well. It would take me hours to point out all of Trump failures so far and the ones that he will certainly fail at in the future.

However, he has had an effect on illegal immigration. However, not much of it has to do with Trump’s policies except for the increase in deportations and the news reporting on it. Coupled with the fear that illegal immigrants living in this country have. The word gets back to friend and relatives in Mexico and other Latin American countries. But we will have to give it a little time to see if the lower traffic is temporary or permanent.

We also see Trump getting a little listen on government and he is even learning a little about history. Sure, most of these things are known by high schools students, but it is never to late to learn.

However, the old saying is true. You can’t fix stupid. And Trump is an imbecile.

    • Posted by Trust But Verify, at Reply

MusicByJC That’s were you’re wrong kiddo. Starting from first sentence. Hillary Clinton is without a doubt more corrupt and only someone misinformed or uniformed would think otherwise.

the wall will be built, there never was a Muslim ban, and every other issue you made is not because of what trumps wants, but what congress is blocking him from doing. all speculation . 8 years of trump is gonna be tough for you when he keeps proving you wrong.

The U.S. won’t let Puerto Rico become a state because brown people live there. The Republicans would probably cut it loose if P.R. didn’t owe the U.S. and financial institutions so much money. As a colony P.R. citizens can at least travel freely to the U.S.

Individual Responsibility was originally a labour ideal. The workers highest goal is still to bring democracy into the industries. In capitalism as a worker you are just an obidient machine taking orders from above. But the labour movement fights for “individual responsibility” for every worker which he gets through democratic participation within his company. That is also where the Republican Party got this ideal from because Lincoln was a big supporter for democracy in the economy.
