His Presidency will end up being the worst thing to happen to this country in my lifetime and that includes 9/11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a literal disaster, and i’m a gerbil.

    • Posted by Martin Speed, at Reply

+Meaty Clackers That’ll be easy enough. In 2020 only one name will appear on the ballot.

      I’m not optimistic.

@Sir Gerbil Macintosh – You are correct: You are a gerbil.

Oh, and the other thing too. I’ve seen a lot of Presidents I abhorred: None were half as bad as Trump.

It started folks, the campaign against the Constitution has begun. It’s going to be baby steps and the first step is to keep referring to the Constitution as archaic. They are going to start the process of brainwashing people (his supporters) to start undermining the Constitution. You know, the document that the right wing called “PERFECT” until Trump said otherwise.

    • Posted by Susan Galea, at Reply

Indeed. Trump’s life has been dedicated to circumventing the rule of law and if he can change it now, he will. Just look at the lies he’s spreading and implications of his railing against democratic checks and balances. He’s an ugly critter with a short fuse. All the Trumpeteers must wake up sooner or later, or the outcome is going to be devastating for America and the world.

    • Posted by Ragnarok Sora, at Reply

to be fair. the constitution has always been anti state law and pro federal. if anything they could of easily just resurrected the Confederacy, but the uprise will end really quickly once they take away their food stamps.

as president you don’t have absolute power? who’d have known.

it’s almost like you have to be accountable to the people.

Seems to me That Mr. Sexual Harassment wants a dictatorship.

    • Posted by Blair Schirmerx, at Reply

Right? It’s almost as if Stump was elected to *_REPRESENT_* the people, and not lord over them. Who knew?
–It’s amazing, in its way. If the buffoon-in-chief had sat down with ONE Constitutional scholar for ONE hour, he would have learned all this.

Isn’t the electoral college archaic also just sayin!

    • Posted by Ben, Just Ben, at Reply

Ivan Ezell No, I just graduated from the Electoral College last year. It’s been remodeled recently. Going to grad school at Trump U. in the fall.

    • Posted by TheRefractingOne, at Reply

The electoral college and Congress share a very similar form of representation, such that the majority of Americans don’t necessarily dictate who’s President or what bills are passed. So, if we abolish one, why not the other, if we’re going for a superstate in which representation is measured purely by population?

Will Trump feel the same way about the filibuster if the Democrats win back a majority in ’18? This guy is a sad, foolish, ignorant, and frightening joke.

    • Posted by unbiased, at Reply

The ChillyWinds Hopefully he’ll be impeached

    • Posted by The ChillyWinds, at Reply

unbiased Well Trump would find pleasure in it due to his childish and petty narcissistic personality, but Pence would find significant pleasure in it as well since the more democrat bills he vetoes the more corporate donations end up in his wallet. Basically no left leaning legislation is getting passed these next four years regardless how far down the line of succession we go.

    • Posted by mugwump242, at Reply

The ChillyWinds My point is the patent foolhardiness of supporting elimination of a procedural device that benefits *whichever* political party finds itself in the minority. No U.S. party has ever been foolish enough to believe it would hold on to the majority continually, in perpetuity.

    • Posted by mugwump242, at Reply

The ChillyWinds You are correct about Pence’s wallet, the line of succession, and no left-leaning legislation. Unfortunate circumstances, indeed.

  12. Posted by Jane Lin, at Reply

But Trump said “Nobody knows the system better than me.”
You don’t suppose he was lying, do you?

  13. Posted by Michael Davidson, at Reply

Why would he be a fan of checks and balances? Are there checks and balances in the corporate world? no, it’s a pyramid top-down system where those on top make the rules and everyone below them follows the rules or GTFO. If a government operated this way it would be called totalitarian.

    • Posted by Eric Reese, at Reply

And that’s why the “we need a businessman in office to straighten things out!” line of thought is misguided.

100% wannabe dictator. He idolizes Putin , even KimJong Un of North Korea he’s toned down his criticism even empathizing with him about him being young when he had to take over a country after his father died. Now he wants to invite the Filipino president Duterte to the white house .
