United Airlines is encountering more objection. Cenk Uygur, Elegance Baldridge, and Brett Erlich, the hosts of The Young Turks, tell you why they're dealing with backlash this time. Tell us exactly what you assume in the remark area listed below.

" A pair flying to Costa Rica for their wedding were eliminated from a United Airlines trip in Houston on Saturday.

The incident occurred almost a week after a video showing a traveler being dragged off a Chicago-to-Louisville trip went viral.

Michael Hohl and Brownish-yellow Maxwell are scheduled to obtain married on Thursday.

They talked KHOU-TV in Houston:

" Michael Hohl, the groom, said he and also his fiancee, Amber Maxwell, were the last to board the plane.

" Inning accordance with Hohl, they observed a guy was spread out throughout their row taking a snooze when they approached their seats, 24 B as well as C.

" Not wishing to wake the man, Hohl claimed they decided to rest 3 rows up in seats 21 B as well as C. He stated they didn't assume it would matter due to the fact that the trip was half complete with multiple vacant rows.

" We assumed 'not a big bargain, it's not like we are trying to raise right into a superior seat,'" said Hohl. "We were just in an economy row a couple of rows above our economic situation seat."

      I look forward to that.

United isn’t the only airline that this has happened to. Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines had a scorpion issue.

You guys barely even addressed the story. This is a couple trying to cash in on the public backlash against United. You can’t try and bump your seat up like that, and after being told multiple times they weren’t allowed to and still insisting, United was fully in their rights to tell them to leave. Just because they were wrong and assholes in assaulting and throwing the doctor off the plane doesn’t mean they’re wrong here.

This video is 4 and a half minutes long, and a minute and 30 seconds in they addressed what you’re claiming they didn’t talk about.

I’m not going to say you didn’t watch the video, but it certainly seems like you didn’t pay it much attention if you honestly think they didn’t “touch” on the subject.

    • Posted by moismyname, at Reply

Heather Smith, They addressed the story enough for me to see this video and think “okay, so the couple is trying to cash in on the public backlash against United”. I don’t know what you are complaining about.

  4. Posted by Curtis Smale, at Reply

So um… we care about news you’ve covered already but you’re not touching the Berkeley situation? Or is that coming as your last video of the day?

    • Posted by Curtis Smale, at Reply

Because I can’t help but feel they are ignoring stories that are inconvenient for them. They are so busy showing every dead black man thanks to cops but they don’t bother with news coming from the radical left that has been indoctrinated in classes of social justice. Covering a free speech rally where the left wing opposition is insane means giving ground to Trump lovers, even though not all free speechers are Trump lovers.

Cenk. We want real news. Like how that gas explosion in Syria might have been staged based on analysis of the crater shape, not some low scale drama of 2 people kicked off a plane.

Does this problem only happen in America. I don’t have this problem with other countries airlines. Most flight i had been are not 100% booked and the airlines there are not going banana.

Little Derpy but it got both of you to remember it 🙂

Sounds like the couple were being obnoxious. It’s a shame they didn’t film the altercation on there phones. I think staff should consider body cams or cameras on the planes at least.

    • Posted by Joe Len, at Reply

The day will come when everyone will have cameras on everything all the time. Heh heh, I have a camera mounted on my motorcycle helmet. All I’ve got on camera is me speeding – delete delete.

    • Posted by eon001, at Reply

lol yea we’ll have to cherry pick what we want to share, that being said, it leaves no room for debate when it comes to situations like this. I see no reason why there should be cctv cam footage in all public spaces.

  9. Posted by Jordan Green, at Reply

sorry but, the customers were dead wrong in this situation. You didn’t pay for those seats, you don’t get those seats. Stupid Humans.

    • Posted by diet shazta, at Reply

Jordan Green still dude. united ducked up they made a man bleed. they owe more than just economy seats

    • Posted by Dan Moar, at Reply

But they owe that to THAT guy, not some other random couple. Why should this couple get better seats because some other, completely separate guy got his head kicked in?

  10. Posted by Island Ninja, at Reply

What’s with the overbooking anyway? Even if I dont show up, that seat is paid for and should fly away empty. It’s not like they’re losing money when people don’t show up. Overbooking is just them trying to get extra money by selling seats which were already paid for. Can you imagine if movie cinemas did this? At least when a hotel does it they upgrade you to an even better room if they dont want to get sued. They dont kick you out of the hotel.

    • Posted by CButtonshaw, at Reply

Why make money when you can make DOUBLE money? (not encouraging it. just answering your question= GREED)

So you’re saying you want to pay more for tickets? Here’s a tip for you then. Only buy first class from now on. You’re pretty much guaranteed a seat if you cough up the extra coin for first class.
      You’re welcome!

    • Posted by Island Ninja, at Reply

Jason R i only fly first class, baby!

  11. Posted by Jasmine Tracy, at Reply

They were trying to sit there because the guy who was also on their row was asleep across all 3 seats. Instead of waking them, since the flight was only half full, they sat elsewhere. That’s when the crew came up, and refused to allow them to sit there even when they offered to pay.

  12. Posted by AndroidDoctorr, at Reply

They really really want their company to go under, don’t they?

    • Posted by AndroidDoctorr, at Reply

So… Does that mean people AREN’T boycotting them? What’s your point?

    • Posted by AndroidDoctorr, at Reply

I’m talking about the consequences of their actions. They’re pissing off their customers. Whether they technically did anything wrong or not has very little to do with whether people will continue buying United tickets

  13. Posted by Corey Davis, at Reply

So let me get this straight……these ppl wanted seats they didnt PAY for. Repeatedly were told to vacate said seats. Then were put off cause they refused to follow RULES. And we’re supposed to see them as the victims?

    • Posted by Robin Lillian, at Reply

Someone was lying on their seats. The plane was HALF EMPTY. They did manage to get their assigned seats back, but the airline had them evicted, anyway. The empty seats on the plane were already a loss for the airline.

    • Posted by Robin Lillian, at Reply

Someone else was in their seats and the plane was HALF EMPTY. why didn’t the staff help them get their seats back?!

    • Posted by moismyname, at Reply

Who said we’re supposed to see them as the victims? I’ve seen other reports on this incident that were really intended to make the couple out as victims, but this video just gave the facts and then proceeded to discuss airlines’ policies in general.

  14. Posted by Noelle Lee, at Reply

So these people wanted seats that they didn’t pay for? ummmm no you can’t play musical chairs on the plane. The seats that they had they paid for and if you didn’t pay to move up to the enhanced seat you shouldn’t move up. Because odds are the person who actually paid for that seat will show up. It’s the same with the movie theater… you don’t move seats until you see no one is really sitting there… in a plane you have to ask permission to move up to a empty seat… notice I said empty seat not a empty seat in a different class like business class and you booked economy… because the airline has a seating chart to identify everyone.

    • Posted by roxanneworld11, at Reply

Noelle Lee you have a lot to learn about flying..and they were *not* sitting in an *upgraded* seating area…and, as i told someone else: it wasn’t even ages ago, when a plane had so many empty rows, that flight attendants would *invite* passengers, even with assigned seats (which, some flights, the seats were not even always assigned)..but they’d invite them to sit where they wanted – whenever there was room – so they could take a nap or just stretch out to be more comfortable..common courtesy and common sense..but, since the post 9-11 changes in the law re: the legal powers crews have, many of the flight attendants have lost their ‘got dam’ minds and gone on a power trip..did you even see the video about the doctor getting attacked by the airport police after the flight crew called them in??..and then they just stood by, watching him get assaulted..they should get sued, *personally,* as well.

    • Posted by Jeff Spangler, at Reply

Economy Plus is an upgraded area.

    • Posted by Noelle Lee, at Reply

economy plus is a upgraded area. you have a lot to learn about listening. they kept changing seats to move to economy plus. they didn’t follow instructions to return to their assigned seats. so before you write comments that don’t make sense and try to “school” people get some common sense.

TAKE A BOAT better yet don’t go to Hawaii. No not 100 percent of flights can be averted to train boat or car but enough to get the Nazi airlines to walk the straight and narrow can be

    • Posted by AssassinoJaxon, at Reply

Ok, now ask yourself a question. When you need to get somewhere in a fairly reasonable amount of time because, for example, you are attending a wedding, do you really think that a boat will be able to get you there fast enough, especially if you are traveling from a part of the country that doesn’t have access to the ocean?

Not saying that the couple here is in the right. THere is apparently a lot more to this story that wasn’t mentioned here. Just saying that alternatives aren’t exactly practical when you have a timetable.

    • Posted by bigraviolees, at Reply

Id walk before Id let anyone f with me grope me and tell me how to dress before I get on board for a flight. Trains are great. I drove to Georgia from Michigan last month and as long as I stayed in the speed limit no issues and freedom

    • Posted by AssassinoJaxon, at Reply

Just because you can and did, doesn’t mean that it is for everyone. For example, what about those people who have to travel as part of their job and simply don’t have the time to take a train or boat or car? Clearly you missed the part in my previous post where I mentioned that timetables exist and not everyone had the freedom to take a slower form of transportation to get to where they need to get to.

The airline industry needs more competition or else the United Airlines can’t get away with abuse.

    • Posted by ilovesparky13, at Reply

What are you talking about? There are TONS of airlines to choose from.

    • Posted by DjDedan, at Reply

most of them are actually the same, for example continental and united are the same company… alaska and virgin are the same, and i think delta and northwest, etc… etc… it’s actually pretty difficult to track down all the mergers and acquisitions, and let’s not forget the alliances (star, sky etc…)… anyone have a list?

  17. Posted by mavishill, at Reply

what if United is planting such fake people to show people create drama on purpose to sue them for money.

    • Posted by Bomb Cherry, at Reply

mavishill I was thinking the same thing. They are creating these types of incidents to outweigh the real issues that are being brought to life. Why would someone who know they are in the wrong seat, not simply move when asked? And how can they just move to a seat that is assigned to someone else? Unless the seats were empty.

  18. Posted by altoidyoda, at Reply

Wait… why is this the headline? People tried to sneak into seats they didn’t pay for and got busted for it and wouldn’t move so they got kicked off? That’s the complaint? They didn’t even talk about that story, it was like two sentences in the whole video. Seems like this was just an excused to talk about United some more.

i don’t know, if those seats are open – whats the problem, i’ve never seen someone get booted for taking open seats, especially how cramped economy is nowadays… airlines have been getting stingier and stingier lately, i think the passengers, as human beings, have reached their limit… the conditions on the planes now are so ridiculous, i’m surprised passengers aren’t throwing the flight attendants out!…
