Mr.s Mr.s I’m genuinely curious what point you’re trying to make by belittling my existence? Not that it’s any of your business, but I decided long ago that I don’t want children. Conveniently, I can’t have them anyway. I must say that your neo-eugenics is quite amusing considering that the majority of my aunts were sterilized because Natives were considered undesirables. Also, your attempt at degrading my existence was completely in vein. After living through the ravages of a rare disease that’s generally fatal and slowly building back up to the life I once had, which included a rather fulfilling life teaching mural painting to multiple alternative schools through The Arts & Humanities Council. I dont think one could argue that I didn’t contribute to society.
Here’s the thing though…Even if I contributed nothing, I still have just as much right to live as anyone else. Furthermore, I truly pity your small minded, Darwinian, regurgitation of Third Reich theory.

    • Posted by Mr.s Mr.s, at Reply

well I wasn’t speaking of eugenics but if you insist. Racial differences in IQ scores among races. Look it up, they always said the truth hurts.

Ok, Americans, get over your fat, gun loving, race baiting selves. USA is NOT the shiny example of democracy, education, civility or progress. France is a better democracy, Germany has free university. Norway has more civil police, and Estonia has had better prenatal care for decades.

    • Posted by Rick Rudimentary, at Reply

      USA is a joke!

    • Posted by Delovely 1, at Reply

Villager #22 no one said its perfect but it says a lot that those countries citizens would rather face these challenges together rather than take americas motto of every man for themselves. everyone is wrong but us and syria huh?

    • Posted by Mike Brow, at Reply

May not be perfect but I feel like Norway my country is borderline perfect if not for the refugee swarm

    • Posted by Quique, at Reply

As one of the fat, gun loving, race baiting Americans who is neither fat (well, not really) nor a _race baiter_ I completely agree w/ you however there was a time when America was indeed shining example of Democracy when Europe was embroiled in constant conflicts & wars then again that was years ago & America has slowing declined w/ the rise of NeoLiberal policies as well as as Conservative policies like Trickle Down Economics both of which destroyed blue collar factory jobs in cities across America but one thing America is great at is ignoring those problems while giving the outward appearance of progress & civility. I say all that to say what should be obvious; not all Americans beleive we’re no. 1 nor do we all beleive we can’t learn from our neighbors who obviously in some cases do things better.

And, get this, (I’ve just come up with this: brilliant!) Prevention is Cheaper than Cure!! Genius, right?

    • Posted by Juwoki, at Reply

And to prevent birth- and genetic defects, you would only have to abort all this fetuses!! Right genius?

    • Posted by kez kezooie, at Reply

+Juwoki Really? You’re trying to use deflect with this?
You don’t think that prevention and screening for cancer or diabetes, for example, isn’t sensible and also less costly than waiting until people actually get sick?
Being proactive regarding healthcare does not equate to eugenics by abortion, which is what I’m reading you’re trying to do from your comment.

    • Posted by Juwoki, at Reply

kez kezooie This video is about the hospital bill for the treatment of a boy with a RARE GENETICAL DISORDER. To post a comment about prevention on this video is the wrong equation, not my comment.
Prevention will do nothing in cases like the one discussed here.

    • Posted by kez kezooie, at Reply

+Juwoki of course it can help – by detecting and monitoring his condition. Prevention isn’t only about preventing something outright, it’s also about detecting something that could be a major problem within a condition if not treated before it gets worse.
This child and many people can benefit from preventative healthcare. He will no doubt have problems arising in the future that, if caught early can be treated with less cost.
I myself have a genetic disorder that is kept under control to a great degree via monitoring and early or preventative treatment.

    • Posted by Juwoki, at Reply

key kezooie The initial comment that I was reacting to was: “prevention is cheaper than cure”.
There of course are many health issues, that can be prevented by screenings and I am in no way saying that preventative measures are not important.
BUT a genetic disorder is a condition that can not be changed by anything if you detect it in the womb, it literally is IN YOUR GENES.
The ONLY thing you can do, is to treat the problems, that are the result of the disorder. That of course is important, but that is literally THE CURE then, you have NOT prevented the cure by detecting the disease, so it is in no way CHEAPER!!!
Preventative care is essential for a lot of medical problems, yet not all of them. There are just diseases and risks you (still) can not prevent. And btw the essential point of the video is to compare the healthcare system that is in effect now, to the one the GOP is now trying to install. And be sure of one thing, preventative care will be a lot harder to get if this plan is passed.

Obamacare saved my life. it afforded me a trip to rehab to help curb a 15 year addiction to cocaine and heroin. it also helped me with chronic liver disease. I owe that to Obama and the Democrats for thinking I’m worth a second chance.

  13. Posted by BadgerUKvideo, at Reply

Let me get this straight. America didn’t used to have a health care system so they introduced ObamaCare, which is not a health care system, and now they want to scrap ObamaCare (which isn’t a health care system) and replace it with no health care system.

Why is America against having a health care system? I don’t get it.

    • Posted by Drm R, at Reply

Our benevolent overlords with socialized healthcare and lifetime benefits have decreed us peasants dont deserve the same because its socialism and socialism is evil. Whats worse are the peasants that truly believe this.

    • Posted by BadgerUKvideo, at Reply

Martine I’ve only lived in a few countries and they all had health care so i’m happy to admit i’m ignorant. But surely it’s common sense that the rich will benefit from having a workforce that doesn’t become fucked the moment they get ill?

    • Posted by loki2240, at Reply

BadgerUKvideo – The wealthy don’t want to pay for other people’s services. The wealthy get the best, and they pay for the best. They don’t want to pay for things that they don’t directly benefit from.

So, they use their influence to get people who aren’t wealthy or even rich to be apathetic or even act against their own interests. And it’s all too easy because bigotry has been part of the U.S. since its inception. A lot of Americans will harm themselves, as long as they can harm groups of people they don’t like in the process.

you guys need a national health service like we have in the UK

    • Posted by HassanLuv78, at Reply

America will never have that for one main reason….High Taxes. No one in this country wants to pay high taxes, even if it’s for something as simple as Universal/National health care. That’s the reason why Bernie Sanders didn’t run against Trump because that was his goal for health care.

    • Posted by HassanLuv78, at Reply

Too many Americans saw Bernie Sanders as the “enemy” because of his health care plan. He wanted a national health service.
