" HOME REPUBLICANS PASSED yet another temporary investing costs Tuesday evening to avoid a government closure. It's the fifth continuing resolution, or CR, this fiscal year (that's counting, though?), as well as while it includes moneying for a variety of health programs excluded of previous stopgap measures, the GOP once again excluded a program suggested to assist prone brand-new moms and their infants.

The Maternal, Infant, and also Early Childhood House Visiting program, called MIECHV, expired at the end of September and is presently operating on leftover funds. A failure to reauthorize the program will cause registration ices up, contract expirations, and also team layoffs. Indigenous American areas, where families disproportionately experience bad wellness end results as well as limited funding, would be hit the hardest. The program has been admired as a model of evidence-based policy by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, that makes all of it the much more disconcerting that greater than 120 days have actually lapsed without reauthorization." *.

More defense spending and no DACA plan? Sounds like the Democratic party I know and love!

    • Posted by Sean McGinnis, at Reply

they’ll fight against border security or a wall of any kind. they don’t about the dreamers, it’s all about money.

    • Posted by Sean McGinnis, at Reply

both republicans and democrats will work to prevent a wall. the democrats outwardly. the republicans inwardly. example: If Trump offered amnesty to every immigrant in America in exchange for a wall the Dems would say no, but if enough said yes, the repubs would turn around and say no no no that’s too much. it’s all sponsored and paid for by donor class.

    • Posted by Sean McGinnis, at Reply

And yes walls totally work, there are countless examples everywhere.

    • Posted by StuntpilootStef, at Reply

Why do you need more defense spending? The US already spends more than I believe the next eight countries combined. Why would you need even more?

both parties suck at compromise, i’m surprised they got this far, but of course Dreamers are still getting screwed because nothing is in this bill that would help them but of course we cant forget about that 80 billion increase for the military-i mean weapons contractors.

An FBI informant involved in the controversial Uranium One deal has told congressional committees that Moscow paid millions to a U.S. lobbying firm in a bid to influence then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by helping former President Bill Clinton’s charities during the Obama administration.

      stop being covetous and jealous.

    • Posted by Arthur Che, at Reply

Arya Putra Do you have any idea how unnecessary this spending is and how much we can help our own country with it? I have veterans all throughout my family so I respect the military and those who serve but this spending is going to the military industrial complex and those who want to become rich and not protecting our country so please educate yourself.

They do what their donors want. They don’t care what we want. Take reasonable gun regulations … popular. DACA…popular. Tax Giveaway to the gluttonous 1%…unpopular. They voted against the population every time. They were meant to represent we the people, but they are only out to serve themselves as servants to the ruling class.

    • Posted by mocki rangne, at Reply

which is why we have to get money out of politics! Starting with Citizens United and then reintroducing the laws about spending caps on donations and get rid of so called Super Pacs.

  18. Posted by Left Is Best, at Reply

While it LOOKS like the R’s are funding social services, the paltry amount put forward is NOTHING compared to the outrageous increase in Defence spending.

    • Posted by StuntpilootStef, at Reply

  19. Posted by Ms V, at Reply

😫😩🤦🏾‍♀️ I know funding the military is important, but it’s a damn shame we spend more on military spending than education spending. They can’t take even 1/3 of that 80 billion and spend it on education? Even 1/3 of what we spend on the military would be enough to vastly improve teacher wages, schools, educational programs, college tuition assistance, etc etc.

    • Posted by matty922117, at Reply

I don’t think it’s inherently a shame that we spend more on the military than on education, it just costs more. The ridiculous thing is that WE ARE NOT spending anything on education compared to other countries. Bernie Sanders said that with around 75 billion dollars a year you could render all public universities tuition free.
Just like FDR said, America is the wealthiest nation on earth, we don’t need to compromise, you can have a massive military spending AND education spending AND healthcare-for-all. You just need to raise taxes on the wealthy, Wall Street and corporations.
I have no problem with them raising the defense budget, I would just like to see the same being done to Education and Health Care.
ALSO if they fixed the “money leaks” and save all those billions of dollars that get wasted in the Pentagon each year you could technically raise the defense budget without increasing the burden on the federal budget.

All I can see is if Trump makes it through 4 years, we’re gonna have another 2008 all over again. Unless all these things are funded by cuts.
